Installing Underfloor Heating Systems
How do you install electric underfloor heating systems? The following diagrams illustrate how ThermFloor systems can be installed beneath different floor types. Please note that every delivery comes complete with detailed fitting instructions, which explain every stage of the process in an easy to follow, step-by-step guide. Timber Sub-Floor Prior to installation, always ensure that the substrate is sound: ensure that any loose boards are firmly affixed and, where necessary, reinforce to prevent movement which might cause tiles to crack. Reinforcement can be achieved by covering the floor with our ThermBoard insulation board or 18mm WBP plywood. Concrete Sub-Floor Prior to installation, repair any imperfections in the concrete surface and level the floor using suitable building materials. Clean the resulting surface to remove dust, dirt, grease or oil marks. Fitting our ThermBOARD to the concrete sub-floor will create a flat surface for the heating cable and tiles while increasing the levels of insulation. Bituminous Flooring In cases where bitumen has been used – typically in kitchens beneath a vinyl floor covering – a barrier will need to be placed between the bitumen and the heating system.
