What Floor Heating system do I want?

First of all you need to know what your floor finish is going to be, then decide whether it is for primary heating or secondary heating. 

We have listed below the different floor finishes and what type of system would be most suitable.

Under Tiles

Primary Floor Heating

200mat - 200W/m²
10Cable – 200W/m² when spaced at 50mm (please refer to the table when choosing the correct length of cable)

Secondary Floor Heating

160mat – 160W/m²
10cable – 160W/m² when spaced at 62mm (please refer to the table when choosing the correct length of cable)

Under wood/Laminate or Carpet

Primary Floor Heating

N/A Due to wood having to be limited to 27C

Secondary Floor Heating

FMEmat – 150W/m²

Under Kandeen / Vinyl / Lino

(This finish must have a 10mm levelling compound on top due to the finish being glued down)

Primary Floor Heating

N/A Due to the glue used cannot go above 29C.

Secondary Floor Heating

160mat – 160W/m²
10cable – 160W/m² when spaced at 62mm (please refer to the table when choosing the correct length of cable)

Heating laid in a concrete screed

18Cable – 160W/m² when spaced at 112mm (please refer to the table when choosing the correct length of cable)
