Manufacturing and Engineering Business of the Year at the 2020 North West
Family Business of the Year Awards
First Trace Heating Direct Ltd took home a much-coveted North
West Family Business of the Year Award in the Small Manufacturing and
Engineering category on Friday night, under the wings of iconic turbojet
Concorde.
The ceremony, with contestants from across Lancashire,
Cheshire, Cumbria, Great Manchester & Merseyside took place in Manchester
Airports aptly named Concorde Conference Centre. The North West Family Business
of the Year awards night was hosted by accomplished food writer and presenter
Nigel Barden, whilst the announcement for the award itself came from category sponsor
Lancaster University Business Engagement.
Sue Howorth, Founder and co-director of The Family Business
Network and The North West Family Business Awards said: “This has been a
fantastic event, which really has celebrated the great work family businesses
do, which enriches their communities and the country’s economy.
“The response from the business sector and the public has
been fantastic for this inaugural event. We had 192 entries from across
Lancashire, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cumbria.
“It was a tough job for the judges as the standard of
entries was so high.”
Steven Dunne, Managing Director of First Trace, said about
the win: “It has been an incredible event and journey, and I’m so proud of the
team and their efforts to be here tonight. We started as a family business over
twenty years ago, and not only has the business grown – our family has too.
“We’re a proud family business who have had three
generations work here, so to take home the win in the Small Manufacturing and
Engineering award is a great feeling.”
It is the second award in the cabinet of First Trace, who
picked up the Family Business of the Year Award at the 2018 edition of the
BIBAs.
