What Floor Type is Best for Underfloor Heating?

If you’re looking at installing underfloor heating on a home renovation or new build project, something that always crosses the mind of installers and homeowners alike is which flooring finish will be compatible with a floor heating system?

The good news is that Snug Underfloor Heating has a variety of systems to suit the needs of any project, no matter which flooring choice you make. Whether it’s upstairs or downstairs, real wood, tile or carpet – we’ve got the best underfloor heating solution for your project.

Water Underfloor Heating Systems are perfect everywhere – even upstairs!

All of our in-screed wet underfloor heating systems are compatible with any conventional floor finish, and you can even have Snug water underfloor heating upstairs with our suspended underfloor heating systems. Our Snug Fit-from-Below system is specifically designed to sit between joists from below, allowing you to heat the upper floors without disrupting the upper flooring. Whilst our Snug Suspended Heat Plates, contain self-retaining grooves that grip to the pipe making installation an easy, one-person job.Snug Underfloor Heating Suspended Heat Plates

Tile, Stone & Marble Flooring

Our Snug electric floor heating systems can also be used with any flooring, but it is important that the correct product is used. If a primary heating system is required, in other words it is the only heat source in the room, our 200w SnugMats can be used under tile, stone and marble.

Under tile, stone and marble heating can also be achieved as the secondary heat in the room with our 160w SnugMat, it can also be placed under wood and adhered laminate but requires 10mm of levelling compound on top.

Carpet, Real Wood & Laminate

For electric underfloor heating under carpet our SnugMat 150w FME and a sheet of closed cell insulation only raises your floor height by 4mm and provides a perfect comfort heat in any living room, kitchen or bathroom. The SnugMat FME is also ideal for under wood heating and tongue & and groove laminate.Snug Underfloor Heating Cable Pink

Awkward Spaces

We also offer a Snug Loose Cable system for primary or secondary heating, which allows for further heated floor options in awkward spaces where usually there would be no space for matting.
